Antivirus, antispam and other e-mail checks

University mailboxes and mail service are provided by the Gmail platform, which is protected by antispam and antivirus service.

In order to protect your attachments and block unwanted emails in your Inbox, Google adopts antispam and antivirus systems analysing the email traffic of the University users.

Messages are classified into two categories:

  • good messages that appear in the user's Inbox;
  • messages that the system considers as spam: such messages will be marked as SPAM and will not appear in your Inbox.

Of course, it is possible that the system accidentally marks a message as spam by mistake. Therefore we advise you to check periodically the messages in the SPAM folder andand in case of incorrect assignment report that the message is good through the appropriate button 'Report as not spam' present at the beginning of the mail.

The anti-virus scans each attachment and in case it detects a virus  the system rejects the message and notifies the sender with an warning saying ’Be careful with this message. It might contain a virus or a malicious link.’

Attention to the sender of the emails:

  • if a message is sent by a sender external to the organization (UniTrento), Gmail affixes a yellow label next to the subject of the email

Indicazione di email scritta da esterni

it is recommended to pay close attention and open the message only if the sender is a known person

  • if this message appears

Identità UniTrento contraffatta

the sender's identity may have been falsified (an address very similar to those issued by UniTrento was used) it is therefore important to verify that the address actually belongs to the person
