Band management

To ensure efficient use of cloud services (eg Gmail, Drive, etc.), outsourced services (eg ESSE3, SAP, etc.), bibliographic resources and internet resources used by research (eg projects on the peer peer) or that have particular institutional value, it is necessary to manage the band. Bandwidth management is achieved by using traffic shaping machines located at the University network perimeter, which, based on network traffic, identify the application and then apply the related management rules (eg minimum guaranteed band, bandwidth maximum usable, priority in case of congestion, etc.).

Some band restriction rules depend on the location where the user is connected and the time (for example: traffic from students is limited during the day - to guarantee bandwidth to users in the University - while bandwidth usage is allowed at night greater).
